What Are The Draftable Options?

We offer 3 options for the Draftable document comparison tool:

Online is a convenient free service that allows you to compare two documents and highlight differences on the web, from any location with an internet connection. The desktop option is a powerful stand-alone application, ideal for users who prioritise security, as files never leave your computer. And the API is perfect for organisations looking to integrate document comparison capabilities into their own software.

How Does The Draftable Software Work?

Draftable document comparison software streamlines the process of identifying differences between documents. Using advanced algorithms, it analyses text, formatting, and layout to detect changes like insertions, deletions, and formatting adjustments. Results are presented in a clear, colour-coded interface with side-by-side or single-page views, making it easy to review changes. Users can export comparison outputs in formats like PDFs or tracked Word documents.

What Can I Use Draftable For?

There are dozens of different applications for Draftable document comparison services. Here are just a few:

Legal

Draftable Legal was designed with legal professionals in mind. As multiple parties are usually involved in the writing, revising, negotiating, and finalising of the contract, Draftable Legal is perfect for accurately identifying changes in documents and streamlining contract reviews.

Insurance

Insurance underwriters and brokers use Draftable to compare documents to ensure no unauthorised changes have been made to terms, premiums, or risks.

Finance

Draftable is invaluable for financial institutions and auditors who need to verify compliance and accuracy in financial statements, agreements, or reports. By comparing versions of balance sheets or contracts, the software ensures that critical figures or clauses haven’t been altered, saving time and reducing the risk of errors during audits or regulatory reviews.

What Are The Benefits Of Using Draftable?

Draftable offers a range of benefits that cater to the needs of professionals across industries, making document review seamless and secure.

Improve Efficiency

Our software helps improve the efficiency of a contract review process. Instead of waiting for interested parties to manually check recent changes or updates in documents, you can upload them to Draftable, and everyone can review updates in minutes.

Minimise Risk

You can minimise risk and make sure no critical changes are overlooked, such as wording adjustments or numerical discrepancies.

Simple Comparison Viewer

One of the best things about Draftable is the intuitive comparison viewer. Its user interface is so simple that even our less tech-savvy customers find it easy to use. The change list on the side shows every single change, and you can click on any of them to be taken to that section of the document.

Our comparison interface also offers the ability to view the documents side-by-side or as a single document with all changes underlined.

I Just Compare Documents Side By Side – Why Do I Need Draftable?

Yes, you could open two documents and just read them carefully side by side, but this method is both slow and prone to errors. Draftable highlights every single revision so that you can’t miss a single change!

Everything from new sentences to a simple full stop or font change can be highlighted. If you’re dealing with legal documents and contracts, even the smallest change can make a big impact. Draftable provides the most thorough way to compare documents.

How Did Draftable Get Started?

Ben Toner, our founder, was studying quantum mechanics at university and working on a tool to compare DNA. Frustrated by the lack of visibility into document edits, he began building a solution. While comparing DNA turned out to be easier than comparing documents, Ben persevered, and Draftable as we know it today was created—a software tool powered by a team passionate about technology.

What Are The File Types Draftable Can Compare?

Draftable can compare Word, PowerPoint, RTF, Excel, PDF & text documents. Most document comparison tools, such as the one inbuilt in Word or Adobe Acrobat, only allow you to compare the same type of documents at once.

For instance, you might be able to compare Word document to a Word document. With our software you can now compare Word docs to PDFs, PowerPoints to Excel files, or any other combination.

Can Draftable Be Integrated Into My Other Software?

Absolutely! Draftable uses a REST API, so it can be integrated with anything that uses that type of API.

Customers often integrate Draftable with their customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), or document management system (DMS) software.

How Do You Compare Larger Documents?

If you’ve been using the Draftable online comparison tool, you may notice limits on the size of documents you can upload. The online tool only deals with documents that are up to 10MB or 300 pages long.

If you need to compare longer or larger files (or Excel spreadsheets), you can use Draftable Desktop or Draftable Legal.

Which Draftable Tool Should I Get?

  • Draftable Desktop: Ideal for individual users and organisations who prioritise security, this version ensures that files remain on your computer, protecting sensitive information.
  • Draftable API: Designed for businesses and enterprise-level clients, the API allows integration of Draftable's comparison capabilities into existing software. Instead of per-user fees, pricing is based on the number of comparisons per year, enabling unlimited sharing of comparison results without additional costs.
  • Draftable Legal: Specifically developed for legal professionals, Draftable Legal offers advanced features, such as redline comparisons, integration with document management systems, and support for various file formats, including Word, PDF, PowerPoint, and Excel. It enhances accuracy and efficiency in legal document reviews.

What’s The Difference Between The Draftable API and Desktop Version?

Draftable Desktop keeps your files entirely local, offering unmatched security. You can download results as PDFs for easy sharing. The API, on the other hand, allows for sharing comparisons via a URL and seamless integration with other systems.
